CHAPTER NINE
Zoey spent the entire weekend at her sister’s.
She’d known for the longest time that her relationship with Ty was nearing the end; she just didn't want to face the music. Ty had only called her twice since she'd been gone, and that really made her feel some type of way. When she woke up Monday morning, she felt in her spirit that it was time to give Ty a taste of her own medicine.
So, after running a few errands, picking up a few supplies, and making a few anonymous phone calls, she was ready to administer the dose.
"Hey, you don't know me, but I know you. Meet me at Dozier’s tonight at 12. It’s important."
Zoey performed the same skit three times, perfectly.
She only had two hours before her meeting took place, and she wanted to spend those hours getting herself dolled up. She wanted to slay every bit of her session with Ty’s hoes to let them know who she was, had been, and always would be.
As a tall, slender, Afro-Latina, she favored a young Cher in her prime. Long, bone-straight, dark hair—tall and slim. Her skin tone was a sparkling Dominican bronze, and what brought it all together was her attitude. She was very respectful and laid back, but would lean forward if she had to.
Being with Ty for so long made Zoey feel like she had become more of a bitch. She felt like she always had to put bitches in their place when it came to their relationship. There was always some type of shade being thrown, or at least, that's what she thought. But, after looking at things from a bird's-eye view, she realized it was just Ty being the whore that she was.
She had something for that, though. All the years she spent by her side being faithful, helping her build her dream, supporting her when she couldn't support herself, and just being her backbone all together. Zoey’s crying days were over. It was time to make Ty suffer once and for all, just as she had.
"I just got the weirdest call,” Nina said to Charlene as she swiped her badge to clock out.
"What you mean?"
"Some Chick? Talking bout meet her at Dozier’s; it’s important."
Rose, overhearing Nina chimed in and said, “That's weird. I got the same message.”
"Yeah, me as well," said Lyrica.
“Well, what the fuck y’all got going on?” Charlene asked. “Is it for some kind of TV show y’all applied for or something?”
Nina was confused as hell and wanted the call to make sense immediately. When she put some thought into it, however, she knew it had something to do with Ty.
Why else would all three of her girlfriends have gotten the same message?
“Wow, this is really weird,” she said, as they stood in the parking garage looking lost. “Do y’all know this chick?”
Neither Rose nor Lyrica had ever heard the voice before, but they were also sure it was connected to Ty in some way, shape, or form.
“So, what? Are y’all going?” Charlene asked. “What if it’s some fatal attraction setup? You know bitches crazy.”
"Well, she did say Dozier’s," Lyrica said. "It’s always popping, so I doubt she would try to kill us in front of all those people.”
"True,” Rose agreed. “Well, shit, I'm not even gonna bother going home to change. I’ma just head there and see what's up."
Nina and Lyrica followed suit. They all walked to their cars together, discussing what the woman could possibly want with all three of them, and neither of them had any logical explanations.
Nina made sure she had her trusty can of pepper spray in her purse, just in case something popped off; she would damn sure be ready for it.
The girls simultaneously pulled into the parking lot of Dozier’s around 11:45. They were each greeted at the door with a complimentary glass of champagne, followed by an escort to their table, where there was already a beautiful woman who looked like she had just walked off the cover of an Ebony magazine.
Her whole demeanor said that she wasn’t there for small talk; she was there to handle business. Nothing more, nothing less.
She wore a beautiful red evening gown, a matching pair of gloves that covered up to her elbow, and a pair of beige Louis Vuitton pumps. Her blood-red lipstick laced her lips like the perfect kiss. Her eye shadow was blended to perfection, and her blush caressed her high cheekbones like the hands of someone who adored her. The woman was stunning—intimidatingly. Nina, Lyrica, and Rose sat as if they were treading thin ice, not knowing whether to speak first or wait until they were summoned.
"Hello, ladies,” the woman in red said after taking a sip from her glass. "I know this probably caught you all by surprise, but it’s something that had to be done."
Rolling her gloves off, she exposed a huge diamond ring on her left hand. The rock looked like a chip off an iceberg, cut to perfection. The band, crusted in baby diamonds, giving it an almost dry ice finish, left the girls speechless.
"To get straight to the point, my name is Zoey, and all three of you have been fucking my wife. Ty."
The tension in the air thickened around them.
Zoey sipped from her glass again and left the table open for anyone who wanted to speak, but everyone remained silent.
It amused her how the bitches could be bold enough to sleep with someone's spouse, but not bold enough to give an explanation when confronted.
"Well, I'll be the first to say I apologize,” Nina said. “I honestly had no idea Ty had a girlfriend, let alone a wife. I mean, we've been best friends since middle school and told each other everything. At least, I thought we told each other everything. I'm truly sorry."
"So, you're Nina.” Zoey admired her for being woman enough to apologize. “I've heard a lot about you. Very attractive."
Zoey saw why Ty gave in to the temptation. She herself thought Nina was the baddest of the trio when they first walked in.
"I'm Lyrica. And I’m sorry too. I had no idea."
Zoey could tell that Lyrica was a pushover. She also saw that she had a wild side underneath—like, Ty had her way with her in the bedroom.
"I actually met Ty through Nina.” She turned to Nina to express her feelings about the game. "I could tell there was a bit of tension at the game. At the time, I didn't give it much thought, but later on, that shit had me in my feelings. You could've told me before her and I even hooked up that y’all had something going on outside of… you know.”
"We didn’t at the time,” Nina confessed. “It wasn't until I saw her interacting with you that I finally made a move on her. We had actually been kicking it for a while after the date, and never once did she mention you two had anything going on after that."
"Well, I'm Rose. My son goes to Ty’s school, and I never knew about any of you bitches. I'm a little pissed off that I had to find out like this. I knew the bitch had hoes, but I ain't know it was some bitches that I knew. And the fact that I know these two makes me wanna put my foot up Ty’s ass!"
The trio went around the table confessing their sins like they were in a confessional. Zoey sat in silence, taking it all in, tallying up what she needed for divorce. She thought she would get fired up or shed tears while talking to Ty’s mistresses, but it was actually kind of comforting.
"Well, since we sitting here airing out dirty laundry, I guess I should let Rose know I've kicked it with her son's father a time or two. Nothing sexual, just talk."
If looks could kill, Nina would've dropped dead right there at the table.
Rose was so mad she couldn't say a thing; she just sat back with her arm propped on the back of her chair, staring at Nina like she wanted to choke her lights out.
"If y’all still kicking it or whatever, I'll respect that,” Nina said. “But he made it pretty clear to me that Ty is the reason y’all aren't together."
"He right.” Rose hated to admit it. “I still love my baby daddy, but I can't do anything but respect how he feels."
Getting more of an earful than what she'd called the girls for, Zoey couldn't help but sit back and listen to the drama. It seemed like they all had more drama than her, and that made her feel better about her wife being a serial cheater.
"So, wait," Nina said, completely shutting Rose out. "If you been with Ty for seven years, would you be able to tell me how she knows Gigi?"
Zoey looked at Nina like she was an idiot.
"That's our daughter."
Nina nearly choked on her own saliva. Rose and Lyrica both threw their hands in the air and said, “I’ll be damned!" at the same time.
"Are you fucking kidding me!?” Nina screeched. “Who the fuck is Ty? Better yet, who the fuck am I? Because I clearly haven't been myself our whole relationship. Friendship. Whatever the fuck."
"Ty is good," Lyrica said.
"Damn good!" Rose agreed.
Nina was still trying to wrap her mind around Gigi being Ty and Zoey’s love child.
That pierced her heart more than anything. She loved Gigi like she was her own blood, and to find out that her best friend since middle school was her parent hurt her like hell.
"Yep, she is,” Zoey slowly nodded. “And I've put up with her shit for way too long. Seven years too long."
"So, you had Gigi 6 years ago?" Nina asked.
"Me?” Zoey scoffed. “No. I was never able to carry to full term, so Ty carried Gi for us. We used my eggs, but Ty carried the child. I think that has something to do with why I stayed as long as I did."
Nina couldn't help but let out a small chuckle because Ty was something the fuck else! She had carried a whole child, and Nina had no idea.
The ladies sat and talked over things for a good three hours.
Zoey told them about her plans to get Ty back for all the havoc she had caused in her life, and the ladies did nothing more than agree with her. When they were finished, she picked up the bill and told them she would be in touch. She was tired and had a few other things to put in order before she turned in for the night, but she felt as if a load had been lifted from her shoulders after meeting with the girls. Especially Nina.
She felt a genuine vibe from her. She really cared about Ty and seemed to have her best interests at heart. Lyrica was just as dopey as ever—really lame to the game. And Rose, she was a gutta chick, so she wasn’t surprised at all that Ty was a liar. Hell, the only thing she really cared about from the conversation was Nina and her baby daddy.
